About DriveForge — Our Story, Team & Testing Process

About DriveForge

We’re a crew of car enthusiasts, mechanics, and tech reviewers building the most honest car accessory resource on the internet. Every recommendation is earned, never bought.

We Got Tired of Fake Reviews

DriveForge started in 2021 inside a two-car garage in Austin, Texas. Our founder, Alex Chen, had just wasted $400 on a “5-star rated” ceramic coating kit that peeled off within three weeks. The reviews were glowing. The product was garbage. That moment sparked a question that became a mission: what if someone actually tested this stuff?

We started buying products out of pocket, installing them across our own vehicles, and documenting everything — temperatures, install times, durability after 30, 60, and 180 days. What began as a side project for a handful of car-obsessed friends turned into a trusted resource for over a million monthly readers.

Today, DriveForge operates with a simple rule: if we wouldn’t install it in our own cars, we won’t recommend it in yours. No exceptions, no sponsors, no shortcuts.

Three Principles. Zero Compromise.

Every decision we make — from which products to test to how we write our reviews — runs through these core values.

🎯

Radical Honesty

If a product fails our tests, we say so — even if it’s the bestseller on Amazon. Our readers trust us because we’ve never softened a bad result to protect a referral commission.

🔬

Data Over Opinions

We measure suction power in pascals, charging speed in watts, and coating durability in months. Every claim in our reviews is backed by documented, repeatable testing data.

🤝

Reader-First Always

We earn revenue through affiliate links, but our rankings are never influenced by commission rates. The best product wins — period. That’s the deal, and we’ve never broken it.

Garage-Tested, Data-Verified

Unlike most review sites that rewrite Amazon listings, we physically purchase, install, and stress-test every product we cover. Our testing garage runs evaluations across sedans, SUVs, trucks, and EVs to ensure compatibility claims hold up in the real world.

Each product goes through our proprietary ForgeScore™ framework — a weighted scoring system that measures durability, ease of install, value for money, build quality, and real-world usefulness. Products that score below our threshold don’t get published.

How Every Review Gets Made

From initial research to final publication, every product follows the same rigorous five-step pipeline.

01

Research Phase

We analyze bestseller lists, reader requests, and emerging brands to build our quarterly testing queue. Market trends, new technology, and user pain points all factor into what we decide to evaluate next.

02

Purchase & Unbox

Every product is purchased at full retail price from Amazon or the manufacturer’s site. We document packaging quality, included accessories, and first-impression build quality before installation begins.

03

Real-World Installation

Products are installed across multiple vehicle types — sedans, SUVs, trucks, and EVs — to verify universal fit claims. We time the install process and note any tools or modifications required.

04

Expert Analysis

Our team of ASE-certified mechanics and professional detailers evaluate performance metrics: durability under heat, UV exposure, vibration, and daily use conditions over a minimum 30-day testing window.

05

Final Recommendation

Products receive their ForgeScore™ and are ranked against competitors. Only products that clear our quality threshold earn a recommendation. Published reviews are updated every 6 months with long-term durability notes.

What We Stand For

These aren’t corporate talking points — they’re the operating rules we hold ourselves accountable to every single day.

🔍

Transparency

We disclose affiliate relationships, publish our testing methodology, and show our work on every review.

🛡️

Independence

No brand sponsorships, no gifted products, no pay-for-placement. Our rankings reflect test results only.

Quality

We’d rather publish five exceptional reviews per month than twenty shallow ones. Depth beats volume every time.

📐

Precision

Every metric is measured, every claim is verified, and every score is calculated using a documented framework.

🔄

Accountability

If a product degrades over time, we update our review. We re-test top picks every 6 months without exception.

❤️

Community

Reader feedback shapes our testing queue. If you ask us to review something, we add it to the list.
